4. London Permaculture Festival on 21st July 2012
A one day event with talks and workshops aimed at both experienced permaculturalists and interested public. I flitted between events as I was heling out with the organisation, but got to catch interesting talks by Looby Mcnamara on People and Permaculture, and listened to Julian Howell talk about setting up the Brighton Permaculture Trust. Check out this Aranya video that was taken at the event... |

3. Permaculture Diploma Gathering at Bilberry Hill, Birmingham on 25/26 November 2011
A two day gathering of permaculture students from around the UK. Tutorials, design shares and permaculture chat and the chance to meet diploma tutors from all over the UK. A very inspiring event where I learned about urban permaculture, keeping chickens, grafting fruit trees nad research methods. Probably the most valuable session was being on the assessment panel for an apprentice who was having had diploma accredited. It gave me great insight into the thought processes of the assessing tutors and what they are looking for. Great fun networking too, meeting up with friends from my permaculture design course and making new friends. |
2. Willow Workshop with The Willow Bank at Ragmans Lane Farm on 29 October 2011
A one day workshop beginning with a tour of the willow plantation and overview of varieties and uses, followed by a guided construction of a curved living willow 'fedge', or fence + hedge. Great fun, and inspired by how much could get done in a day. Hoping to practice at a friends farm to gain experience and thus have the skill available for future permaculture projects. |
1. Wild Food with Permaculture Mike Feingold at Shambala Festival on 26th August 2011
A talk about the basics and principles of permaculture and the ethics of food foraging, followed by a walk around the festival site identifying and eating all manner of leaves and berries. Video link is about Mike's allotmment, not the talk. |
